If you’re into astrology like me (and I’m guessing you are, because you wouldn’t be here otherwise), you’ve probably looked up the signs you should be in a relationship with.
If you’re a Leo, you learned you should be with an Aries or Sagittarius.
If you’re a Gemini, you were told to find a Libra or Aquarius.
If you’re a Taurus, you were advised to be with a Capricorn or a Virgo.
And if you’re a Cancer, you were probably directed toward a Pisces or a Scorpio.
These broad suggestions are based on the elements of the signs – water signs with water signs, fire signs with other fire signs, etc.
And that makes sense because often, people whose signs are in the same elements have similar orientations toward life.
But astrological compatibility goes soooo much deeper.
Your birth chart shows your unconscious patterns and needs, how you communicate, your values, and a whole lot more. None of this is apparent by looking at your Sun sign (what you think of when you say “I’m a Virgo” or “I’m a Sagittarius”).
Just knowing your Sun sign doesn’t give much information AT ALL about who you should have a relationship with.
For example, if you have a lot of planets in fire signs, you likely need to be with someone who has more of the other elements to balance things out. So if you’re an Aries, you may need a Gemini or an Aquarius more than another fiery partner.
Also, sometimes you find a partner with the right elemental mix, but other planets in their chart connect with yours in a very painful way.
Take the guy I dated last winter. He and I had the same birthday (!!), so our Suns were exactly aligned. Our Moons were both in water signs, and our Ascendants were both in earth signs! You’d think we would have been perfectly compatible. And it seemed like we were…for about two weeks.
But in another part of our synastry chart, his Mercury was right on my Chiron. That meant the way he communicated (or didn’t) was incredibly painful for me.
I spent longer than I’d like to admit in the texting vortex, waiting for him to write anything other than “I hope you’re well.” Needless to say, our little fling didn’t last very long.
Understanding how your chart aligns with your partner’s, exes, and even other family members’ charts can create huge healing and aha moments.
I spent 2.5 years in therapy trying to detangle from my unhealthy relationship patterns with my ex husband.
Then I brought our charts to my astrology mentor, and it took her less than an hour to show me the dynamics in our relationship that made it so damn painful. After our session, I felt more at peace with our relationship than I had in over a decade.
So…if the generic astrology relationship suggestions don’t help, how do you use astrology to know what to look for in a relationship, or, if you have a partner, to understand what keeps you guys stuck in the same patterns and arguments again and again?
I’m glad you asked! 😉
Over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be walking you through some of the major ways astrology can help you understand your relationship patterns, including:
- Attachment styles and how they show up in your birth chart
- How your chart reveals your relationships with your parents
- Why Venus and Mars are both major players in relationship – and how to understand their impact in your life
- The astrological reasons you get attached to some people so quickly – and what to do about it
- …and more
Make sure you look out for my emails each week, because this is going to be juicy!
And before you go today…here’s a healing practice you can do right now.
Put your hand on your heart, and say this affirmation. “My needs matter. I deserve love that fills me up. I am worthy of a deeply satisfying and healthy relationship.”
Here’s to you and your worthy heart,
Daniela
P.S. I’m working behind the scenes on an offering in which I’ll use tarot, astrology, and other intuitive practices to help you feel grounded and in control, let go of the patterns that keep you stuck in the same types of relationships over and over again, and finally become your own best partner in love and life.
